King Hussein Cancer Center Hosts Groundbreaking Conference on the Intersection of AI, Surgery, and Robotics in Cancer Treatment
اللحظة الاخباري -
Amman, November 15-16, 2024– In a landmark event aimed at fostering innovation and
excellence in cancer treatment, the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) recently hosted
a pioneering conference titled Powering the Future of Cancer Care: The Intersection of
AI, Surgery, and Robotics. The conference attracted over 400 participants from various
disciplines in Jordan, including surgeons, nursing teams, numerous other healthcare
professionals and specialists in informatics technology. Esteemed speakers invited by
KHCC from the UK, the US, Europe and neighboring Arab countries presented papers on
the latest developments in artificial intelligence, advanced surgical methods, and robotics,
and their transformative role in enhancing patient care and effectively combatting cancer.
The conference explored the role of robotics in advancing and simplifying complex
surgeries, where precise procedures are now possible with robotic technology. These
advances can reduce the need for human intervention and enable healthcare teams to
perform with the highest level of accuracy. Participants had the opportunity to learn about
the latest robotic surgical technologies and their role in improving patient recovery rates
and minimizing potential complications, as well as explore robotic surgery using
simulators
Dr. Asem Mansour, Director General of KHCC, emphasized the importance of
multidisciplinary collaboration in addressing the increasing challenges posed by cancer.
He stated, “This conference reflects KHCC's commitment to pioneering comprehensive
and sustainable solutions for cancer treatment. By integrating medical expertise with
technological advancement, we aim to build a promising future for patients, where
healthcare is more precise, less invasive, and safer.”
The conference also highlighted the transformative capabilities of artificial intelligence in
cancer diagnosis and treatment precision. Advanced technology now allows the analysis of
vast amounts of complex medical data, providing physicians with accurate insights, aiding
in early tumor detection, and supporting data-driven, holistic treatment decisions.
Additionally, it can aid in surgical planning and procedures. Regarding this, Dr. Mahmoud
Al-Masri, Conference Chair, remarked, “AI is no longer just an auxiliary tool; it has
become a strategic partner for medical teams, enhancing diagnostic and treatment
precision. This conference aims to promote the integration of modern technology with
medical specialties to better serve cancer patients.”
Dr. Al-Masri added, “The Powering the Future of Cancer Care conference represents an
important step towards building a health system that relies on technological innovation.
Through this event, KHCC seeks to provide a platform to enhance collaboration among
professionals, academics, researchers, and innovators across Jordan. KHCC invites all
those interested in healthcare to leverage the knowledge and productive cooperation
opportunities presented here to advance cancer treatment practices locally and regionally.”
